PGY2 Residency in Critical Care
Completion of a residency provides a highly condensed learning experience, building both knowledge and confidence in the area of critical care. In an increasingly competitive marketplace, a critical care residency provides an important advantage when seeking direct patient care positions.
Wesley provides an ASHP preliminary accredited critical care residency program, with openings for one qualified candidate each year. The program provides experience in a variety of settings, with both core (required) and elective rotations. Required rotations include orientation, medical ICU, infectious diseases, surgical/trauma ICU, pediatric ICU, cardiology critical care, and emergency department. Elective rotations allow residents to customize their learning experience. Opportunities include pulmonary critical care, neonatal critical care, pediatric emergency department, and nephrology. Longitudinal experiences provide the resident with training and experience over an extended time period. Some of the available options include committee involvement, drug utilization review/medication utilization review, research project, and pharmacy clinical staffing every fourth weekend.
